FamilySearch is indexing the 1916 Canadian Census and needs your help!

FamilySearch.org is indexing the 1916 Canadian Census and is seeking volunteers to assist as they would like to complete the indexing by December 3, 2008. Yes, that's tomorrow! According to their website, they're currently 43% done, so if you have 30 minutes to spare, please help! You will need to download software from the FamilySearch.org website, and all the instructions are there.

Once the indexing is done, the index and images will be available on Ancestry.ca for a fee, and the index will be free at FamilySearch.org. Some Family History Centers will offer images for free in-house. This partnership between Ancestry and FamilySearch.org also means:
FamilySearch will deliver images and indexes to Ancestry.ca for censuses from 1861, 1871, 1881, and 1916, to launch online in 2009. In return, Ancestry.ca will provide indexes to FamilySearch for the 1891 and 1901 censuses. (FamilySearch.org)
So, let's get indexing!

Ships Passenger Lists Indexing Project

The Nanaimo Family History Society is in the process of indexing all the Passenger Lists for the ports of Quebec City and Montreal from 1900 to 1921 when this format was "discontinued for a time in favour of the form 30A." The group and its volunteers are doing a remarkable amount of work, and they are now able to accept volunteers from outside of Nanaimo. The full description of the project and the information are available from the NFHS website.
